FINISHING

Finishing encompasses all the value we add after your product comes off the printer, including binding, mailing, and inserting. We also offer additional print finishing services listed below.

What type of finishing is best?

Our experienced team can help you decide which type of finishing options are best for your project.

Collating
Collating organizes your printed product into a predetermined sequence so that the sheets are provided to you in the order that serves the purpose of your project.

Folding
For some products, like magazines, large press sheets need to be folded into “signatures”. This is done via a series of multiple right-angle folds. Folding is also used for products such as brochures to make them easier to handle, or so that they fit into display racks. Common types of folds include c-fold (creates 3 panels like a letter), z-fold (creates 6 panels like a zig-zag), and gatefold (creates 6 panels like window and shutters).

Perforating
This process makes tiny holes on the printed sheet, in a line, so that part of the sheet can be easily detached by hand. This process is especially useful for invoices, coupons, and response cards.

Ad Notes
These are adhesive notes that can be applied to the front page of the newspaper or other products. Our labelling technology supports rapid and accurate application of Ad Notes.

Cutting and Trimming
Paper for your printing job may need to be cut or trimmed during production. This could be because the paper is larger than it needs to be for the final product, or the sheets may need to be trimmed to fit into a folding machine or to separate pieces that were printed as multiple pages per sheet. A guillotine cutter is typically used for the cutting and a jogger, or vibrating table, is used to stack and organize the sheets.

Packaging/Shrink-wrapping
Your finished product will be carefully packed and/or shrink-wrapped to ensure that it is undamaged during shipping. Larger orders will be wrapped onto pallets. Shrink-wrapping creates convenient, cost-effective bundles for easy handling and distribution.

Scoring
This process involves making a crease in the paper so that it will be easier to fold. It produces a more consistent result and is more often used on heavier stock.

Labeling
We stock a wide array of printable labels and we can also inkjet directly onto printed products for best cost savings and a polished look. We use a MiraJET inkjet control interface module for addressing labels, product marking, and bundle marking. We can print upside down, sideways, or right side up. The system can operate as a stand-alone system or as part of our inserter process, press line, or feeder table. We can run up to 55,000 labels per hour. Bundle-wrapping and labelling can operate by print zone, route, or count information on the bundle.

Distribution and Shipping
We are a full mailing services team, as well as our own fleet of trucks and vans to transport your printed product to its destination. This service saves our customers both time and money by having all aspects of the process coordinated by one team.
